November 30, 2001, New Tribes Ministry Press Release, NTM concerned for Burnhams,

MANILA, The Philippines (Nov. 30, 2001):New Tribes Mission is encouraged but concerned after viewing a recent video of kidnapped missionaries Martin and Gracia Burnham.

The video, taken by a Philippine reporter, has been made available to the families of the Burnhams. We are encouraged by Martin and Gracia's expressions of faith and confidence in the Heavenly Father, but their deteriorating health is of deep concern. They appear weak and weary from the six-month ordeal in the hands of rebel extremists.

Please join us in praying for their physical needs and for spiritual strength. We are asking God to bring them home safely.

The members of the NTM Crisis Management Team are working tirelessly for Martin and Gracia's soon release. The families as well as the NTM Crisis Management Team in Manila appreciate your prayers.

Martin, 42, and Gracia, 42, from Kansas, were kidnapped May 27 by Abu Sayyaf from the island of Palawan in the Philippines. The Philippines is home for Martin. He grew up in the Philippines, where his parents have been missionaries for more than 32 years. The Burnhams have been members of NTM since 1985.
