Send to Blog Basics

Browsing the web frequently inspires people to write something to their blogs, either simply to quote, or to quote and comment. This process is now made extremely smooth and effortless with Diigo's annotation features and "Send to Blog" -- another unique blog-integration feature exclusive to Diigo!

So now as you browse along, you simply highlight and add sticky notes on anything that interests you, and afterwards, you can easily incorporate your highlights and notes to your blog with the "Send to Blog" feature. A new blog post will be instantaneously pre-populated with your highlights (including pictures, tables of data, etc.), any associated sticky notes, public page comments, and a link to the web page you are visiting. With our rich text editor, edit based on what you "Send to Blog" with, preview, then publish to your blog right away. It is that simple!

To get started, go to "Send to Blog" in "My Tools" section, click "Add a blog", then enter the full URL of your blog (including http://).

Note: we can auto-detect most blog platforms but few blog platforms require extra steps to setup. Please visit "Send to Blog Platforms" for additional instructions on how to set up the various platforms. If you still experience any difficulty, please inform us in our User Forum.

If our system verfies your URL as a valid one, you will be prompted to enter your blog username / password:

Once successfully validated, your blog will then be displayed in "My Blog List":

If you now want to create a blog posting with your bookmarks and annotations, go to "My Bookmarks". Select one or more bookmarks by checking the respective boxes, then use the "More Actions" drop-down menu to select the "Send to Blog" feature:

The link, including your highlights and annotations will then be sent to the rich text editor. You can then select the blog to which you want to post to, and which category the posting should be filed under. If you don't want to immediately post to your blog, you can save the posting as a draft.

If you want to display not only your annotations, but also those other people have added, select "Show all annotations" in the drop-down menu:

Diigo "Send to Blog" rich-text editor offers many formatting options: add images, insert/edit/remove links, redo / undo, just to name a few. If you wish to manually edit the HTML code, click the "Source" button:

Once you are done editing your post, click the "Post" button to save it to your blog.
