Just as a disclaimer, I don't support the pre-film comments. My primary interest is in the idea that this behavior may have some very interesting implications when compared to documented shamanic practices. The claimed ability to, in some way or another, make a personal connection with the Holy Spirit is in many ways, I feel, similar to the intimate connection accorded to shamans in terms of the spirit world and other transpersonal phenomena.
