Considering a gym membership but can't afford the monthly dues? Try doing home work-out routines with a friend instead. Work-out videos and routines can be found online at little or no cost to you. By inviting a friend to join you, you can satisfy the need for accountability as well as the social aspect that you would otherwise get from joining a gym.
One of the best fitness buddies you can choose is a good dog who will always enjoy doing anything you want to do! When you have a canine friend to keep you company, you will have plenty of motivation to go for daily walks, bike rides, throw a Frisbee or ball in the park. Having a good dog to care for will keep you active and fit!
If you would like to avoid unnecessary soreness following your routine run, always include a cool-down to allow the sudden build-up of excess lactic acid to circulate through your muscles. In addition to a brief walk following your run, always allow time to stretch your muscles to avoid any pulls or cramping.

Being fit isn't all about lifting weights. Cardiovascular exercise plays an important part of fitness as well. Activities, such as jogging or cycling, can get your heart pumping really fast, in order to burn off excess fat. It gives your muscles a workout and increases leg and core strength.
Military pushups are a good modification for regular pushups. They provide more resistance for your arms and chest, and give you more results in strength and fitness. To go from a normal pushup to a military pushup, simply move your arms inward from shoulder length apart to less than shoulder width. Then do pushups like normal.
Crunches day and night alone won't give you a six pack. Although strengthening abdominal muscles has great benefits, the process alone will not get rid of your belly fat. To get yourself a set of washboard abs, you must start eating better while doing resistance and cardio training.
If you have a gym membership, use every piece of equipment offered. Try not to use just one or two different exercise machines. Using a variety of machines will not only prove more fun, but you'll effectively work more parts of your body. Try to learn to use at least a dozen different machines in your gym.
Try a one-legged bike ride, but keep your balance. Use one leg to both forcefully push the pedal down and pull it back up. Let your other leg rest on the pedals without using it for any pressure. Switch the legs up on occasion for a great workout with minimal effort.
To run faster, look to quicker, rather than bigger, strides. Having a big stride is actually inefficient for your body to develop optimal propulsion. Always try to have your foot come down in line with your body instead of in front of it. Then, use your rear toes to propel yourself forward.
If you are looking to gain muscle, stick to being a meat eater. While vegetarians do of course gain muscle from exercise, they do not put on the same substantial amount of muscle as carnivores do. Beef is not the only meat in town, by the way. Fish, turkey and chicken all have the same effect.
Prior to beginning any fitness regimen, be sure to get a physical done at your doctor's office. It will help affirm that you will get the most benefits and have the least amount of risks. Especially if you have had any health issues in the past, or if you smoke, it is very important you get a checkup.
A great fitness tip is to not workout when it's too cold. When it's cold, you're muscles need more time to warm up. If you don't properly warm your muscles up, you can risk getting seriously injured. Always be sure to warm up thoroughly when it's cold.
