中山路街区是厦门本岛旧城中历史最悠久和保存最完整的片区，面临改造不可避免。但近年来的改造项目或多或少都对整个街区空间景观的完整性造成了破坏。为了有效保护中山路历史街区的整体风貌景观，并对正在进行的与即将展开的旧城改造项目提供行之有效的控制引导建议，有必要对中山路历史街区空间景观进行保护研究。
