marta aubiaOur mission is to empower the world’s poorest citizens to right the wrongs they witness by becoming players in the global media revolution. Providing disadvantaged communities with the journalistic, critical thinking and creative skills they need, VV’s models for locally-owned and managed media production teach people to articulate and share their perspectives on the issues that matter to them – on a local and a global scale.

Started in 2002 by Jessica Mayberry and Stalin K, as a project of Creative Visions Foundation. Later, in 2003 it was registered as a non-profit based organization with the primary goal of creating a sustainable and global media industry at the base of the pyramid.
We have a unique vision and mission. We envision an alternative media landscape in which tens of thousands of people around the world, living in slums and villages, are producing high quality video content that brings awareness to communities and empowers members to take action.
Our mission is to empower the world’s poorest citizens to participate in the community media movement so they can right the wrongs they witness and become players in the global media revolution. Providing disadvantaged communities with the journalistic, critical thinking and creative skill they need, we create financially self-sustaining, locally-owned grassroots projects that teach people to articulate and share their perspectives on the issues that matter to them, on a local and a global scale.
Our main programs are Community Video Units, India Unheard – Community News Service, Community Radio Forum, Girl Powered Videos, Videoshala E-CVUs and Videos for Livelihood.
Our Community Video Unit (CVU) is an innovative concept of community media that was developed by Stalin K and Jessica Mayberry in 2006. Each CVU is started and funded by a local NGO that has chosen to invest in the vision of creating a ‘Global Social Media Network.’ Each CVU is comprised of 6-10 people from the surrounding slums and villages who are trained as producers. About every 6 weeks these producers, based on a topic decided by the community, produces a video that is seen via wide screen projectors. About 150-400 people come each night to these screenings and discussions. In areas where most cannot read or write video is the perfect way to reac -
