I think Restorative Justice will be a better response than simply punishing the criminals IN THE LONG RUN. Punishment does help the wrongdoer realize the consequences of his actions, but it is also a way for the victim to get revenge, and this is only temporary. On the other hand, Restorave Justice heals the inner of people, past the surface fury and anger. It helps both sides understand each other, and hopefully the victim will be able to forgive eventually.
