The doctor who treated the “Atomic Man” contaminated at Hanford in the nation’s worst radiological accident speaks today in Richland about Harold McCluskey’s care.
McCluskey was caught in the August 1976 explosion of a glove box at Hanford’s Plutonium Finishing Plant when nitric acid was added to a column containing resin and radioactive americium.
McCluskey spent five months in a steel-and-concrete isolation tank at the Hanford Emergency Decontamination Facility in Richland.
