Funded by the European Union, is building Blended Learning language courses in five European languages (Dutch, Estonian, Hungarian, Maltese, Slovene).
These courses are designed for students who have had an initial introduction in one of the languages and who wish to progress from a basic survival level to a higher competency (A2 of the Common European Framework) The project results are for Language schools and Colleges.
The partners in this project are experts in language education and technology in education, from across Europe.

Blended Learning is a relatively new learning methodology. It is a learning/teaching system that combines the inspiration and motivation of traditional classroom teaching and the fun and flexibility of eLearning (also called online or distance learning) to create courses that are accessible and motivating for today's adult students.
The number of hours within the classroom and online vary greatly according to each course and course building institution and studies are ongoing to evaluate the best mix.
It is incorrect to assume that online or blended learning courses will lower the number of hours a course language tutor will have to work on a course.
The five language courses (Dutch, Estonian, Hungarian, Maltese, Slovene) are being built by specialists with skills in:
* Creating language courses and materials
* Technology and online language learning platforms
* Blended learning
Each of the five languages includes a specialist from the country, Belgium, Estonia, Hungary, Malta, Slovenia. Their knowledge includes an understanding of the language teaching of their languages.
The project will be building guidelines, templates and common instruments for each of the courses so coherent courses are built. In addition, the experts in blended learning will add their knowledge in to the process.
