  I thought that the ability for people to track others' movements was a little stalker-ish...I think that the social-networking sites are good on the one hand because it opens up alot of communication where there would normally be none, conversely, it opens up the world to ALL of the bad apples who are the tiniest bit computer savvy...I personally dislike the social networking sites as a whole because as a parent I see them as potentially very dangerous, and seeing even people at Kstate who put their phone numbers, addresses, and even room numbers reminds me that if an adult would put themselves in that type of a vulnerable position, what about kids who don't necessarily know better. Just a thought, I'll get off of my soap box now. :)

  In response to Snipersprincess's comment, your suspicion is understandable, and if you ask me, it is even necessary. My question is: if we accept the present trajectory of communication technologies, such as the increase in social networking via internet tools like facebook, myspace, etc (but certainly not limited to these), as certain and inescapable, what can we do to inform others about the benefits and dangers of what are becoming increasingly natural modes of communication? It seems as though social networking technologies are quickly becoming integrated into our lives, so what can we do now to become better consumers of information and more responsible users of such technologies?
