Kelly HarkcomWhat better way to learn about "weather" than from the experts themselves? It seems that almost every "grown up" information website has a kids' site to go along with it and the Weather Channel is no different.

Rachel NoonanCurrency- There is no copyright date but The Weather Channel is a very accurate and updated site.
Relevance- This is a very relevant site to my curriculum of science and weather. There is a section dedicated to weather safety, which many children may not know too much about. There is also an abundance of information and many games the students can play.
Authority- The Weather Channel is a wonderful resource and they are a very well-known name.
Accuracy- This site is very accurate because it a nation-wide company and they are known for their accuracy with weather related topics.
Purpose- The purpose is to educate students about weather using games, information, and resources.
I can use this when I teach a unit about science and weather. I will use it to teach the children about weather safety about being safe in the sun. I will also allow the children to complete the crossword puzzle on the site which will help them realize the types of materials they may need to keep in their house in case of a weather emergency.
The website using a nice balance between graphics and text which is very appealing to both students and teachers. The colors of the site are also chosen very well and they will draw the children into the site. The website is also easy to navigate for the students if they would want to go on it outside of class. -

Jennifer KuriskoThis kid-friendly website is a version of the weather channel's website. It allows for children to view the weather of their area in a unique and interactive way. There is even a section, where students can play games that essentially teach them about the different ways in which scientists study weather. I especially loved the way this website includes what is needed if one would chose a career in meteorology. The only con that I could discover on this website is that it includes a video about hurricanes that may not open if one's computer lacks the software needed to run it.

Authority-Meteorologists created for students, teachers, and parents
Accuracy- very accurate-creators of website are meteorologists and weather professionals

I would supplement the curriculum with this site by allowing students to work individually or in groups on this website to gather knowledge about weather! The site is attractive with its pictures and text. The site may even be of interest to students' parents. -

Whitney AndersonThe Weather Channel provides this website that is easily accessible to children. Students can find out the weather for the current day and report this to the classroom. This website was suggested in K-3 Classrooms & Technology presentation given by peers in my ES380 class at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
