Born to William and Ruby Barton on July 2, 1928 and passed away November 19, 2006 at the Spokane Veteran's Home. He graduated from Rogers High School in 1948. Bill played baseball for the Spokane Indians. He and his best friend, Tom Cassis, joined the Marine Corps on July 22, 1950 and were sent to Oceanside, California. He and his wife Suzanne were married June 7, 1951. Three days later, he was shipped to Korea. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal with a combat "V" and two Purple Hearts with a Gold Star. After serving in the Marine Corps, Bill retuned to Spokane, WA and worked for Reese Hall Oil Co. and Trues Oil Co. Eventually, he started his own oil business, Barton Oil Company. Bill and Suzanne were married for 55 years. Bill loved sports cars and was active in the N.W. Super Stock Racing Association. He was a former member of the North Spokane Kiwanis and the Couple's 50's Dance Club. He is survived by his loving wife, Suzanne; brother, J. Richard Barton(Donna); sister, Patricia Peter (Brad); and best friend, Tom Cassis. He has four children: daughter, Rachelle Barton (Rick), son, Todd Barton, son, Evan Barton, and daughter, Hilary Dearman (Chris); 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchil-dren; many loving nieces and nephews; and a great host of friends, all of whom he adored. His life will be celebrated at Fowler UMC, 3928 N. Howard, on Saturday, November 25, 2006 at 11 AM.
