Although it is powered by Google's search algoithm, it is not affiliated or endorsed by Google. Enter your search term as usual. Choose where you want results to come from among several categories. Categories include news and newspapers, Internet directories, dictionaries, videos, movies, and much more. Refine results even further by choosing specific newspapers or websites within results. A date range narrows news results.

This site contains five features, which include using Google’s search algorithm; having advanced features easily accessible by refining search results by date, category, and site; improved internet search by using the entire web or only those from blogs, forums, online stores, or video websites; individual labeling of thousands of sites; and quality results. There are four topics on the home page. These topics consist of reference, shopping, entertainment, and spific topic. Under the reference section, students can find, news, internet directories, dictionaries, encyclopedias, and how to videos. I think this is the only section that would be useful to middle school students.

For example after searching the entire internet for the keyword "Olympics" you can then select a refinement such as "Blogs", to find Bloggers currently writing about the Olympics, "Forums", to find active discussions that you can join, "Videos", to view Olympics related videos, or "Stores", to find online stores offering Olympics related merchandise . Refinements appear as blue underlined text located directly above the search results, selecting one will refine your search and provide more relevant results. Add Spific to Firefox. -
