kelly_nguyen6210Authority: As the Smithsonian is an authority of the study of history and the spread of knowledge, it works.
Accuracy: It has documents and items that are relevant to the study of history, both to students and teachers alike.
Objectivity: It is very easy to navigate, and even has a search engine for students and teachers, looking for primary sources or documents.
Currency: It isn't as current as I would believe as it is American history and there isn't anything on the current state of the U.S. However, there is a different section of the site devoted to that. -

athimescThe Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies collected teacher selected sources to display documents, images, and artifacts throughout American History. The visually appealing website complete with fun pictures, icons, and color will help the teacher navigate through the site while catching the students attention.

husker94Smithsonian Source contains about 200 sources. A few examples of these sources are documents, speech transcripts, and political cartoons. These are divided in to sections such as Inventions, Transportation, and Westward Expansion. I picked this site because it has activities that are related to the primary sources. Another reason I picked it was because has good sources, but is not overwhelming.

cnstjonesThis website has many historical topics such as the Civil Rights, Colonial America, Inventions, Native American History, Transportation, and the Westward Expansion that will assist me in teaching this different time periods and topics. It also allows teachers to use primary sources for lectures such as using Artifact and Document Analysis, Compare and Contrast, Four Corners/Jig Saw, Graphic Organizers, and PERSIA. I really look forward to using this website when I become a History teacher to assist me in my lectures.

Lauri BradyThis website reflects the work of several groups of teachers who conducted research at the Smithsonian and other national historical organizations. For this reason, some of the primary sources included in Smithsonian Source are not from the Smithsonian collections. Teachers also chose the historical topics on the site, and these categories reflect their curricula rather than the terminology or organizational methods of the Smithsonian Institution.

Carol EcklEach section of Historical Topics includes a video introduction to artifact analysis. Filmed at Smithsonian museums, archives, and restoration facilities, the videos feature short (4 to 5-minute) interviews with Smithsonian curators, historians, and educators. Students can look over the shoulder of these experts as they gather clues about a culture or period of history by “reading” an artifact.
