Skype buttons with status If you choose to show your Skype status, your Skype button will always reflect your availability on Skype, e.g. ‘Skype Me!’ or ‘I’m awaaaay’. This status will be shown to everyone, whether they’re in your contact list or not. What is Skype Web? Skype Web is a new feature of Skype 2.0 that allows Skype users to display their Skype online status on a Web page, email, blog, any other HTML enabled content or any other Internet-enabled application. Skype Web, by default, is off. This is to protect our users from having their online status published on the web until they explicitly opt in to do so. By changing your Privacy Options you are essentially publishing your Skype online status onto the web and all Internet users can see it. How do I get Skype Web? Firstly, you need to opt-in to showing your online status to everyone. In Skype, select "Tools" from the menu. Then choose "Options". Under the Privacy settings, you will need to check the option to "Allow my status to be shown on the web". Then, click on the link to "Get a Skype Button for your webpage". Alternatively, visit www.skype.com/go/skypebuttons and follow the instructions to get a status-aware Skype button.
