chelfyn BaxterThis line is my attempt to redesign the Star Wars Universe in a steampunk style. Unlike my Star Wars ReVision which blends many elements, this is intended to be completely classic Victorian steampunk.
What is Steampunk? Steampunk is a genre of science fiction fantasy that generally contains worlds full of amazing technologies in the form of antiquated systems. Such as steam, gears, and clunky elements blended with old world Victorian design elements, think Jules Vern. For further explanation here is the wiki on steampunk. For a visual aid, I have always found this humorous.
I started on the sketches for these figures in 2006, completed the figures in 2007, but held off releasing them until they were all finished to unveil them at a Customcon.
Each figure has 3 accompanying images: A basic front shot, a composite shot showcasing certain details, and a rotating 360° animated gif.

C-3PO
The idea behind my C-3PO design was a mechanical man, almost skeletal, with exposed gears, pulleys, and hinges. I used the gold, but a burnished antique finish, rather then the polished finish, for an antique feel. I tried to incorporate the round disc design on the abdomen and the classic 3PO arm position to sell the look.

R2-D2
Since 3PO was mechanical I wanted to balance the 2 with gears and steam. So R2 is designed to be a little steam powered boiler-bot. I incorporated the focal elements segmented dome (this time with rivets), the single eye, the short nature, and used R2’s original air vents as a modified furnace door & the knob on R2’s head is now a stove -
