Katy AubeUSA Geography - Map Game - Geography Online Games. (n.d.). Retrieved November 6, 2015.
This website provides fun interactive geography games. These games can be used in many ways. They can be used as an assessment of what information students know. It can be used as a tool to engage students who learn visually. It can also be a fun way for students to study their geography with something other than flashcards, etc. -

3. 8.) Identify land masses, bodies of water, and other physical features on maps and globes.
* Explaining the use of cardinal directions and the compass rose
4. This website met the criteria for our group by being easy to use, free, and very educational for elementary students. It is easy to navigate and is clearly labeled for specific categories as well as being very factual with detailed information on the states and their information.
5. This website was chosen over the others because it was very easy to access and navigate as well as being very entertaining and student friendly. It is forgiving for students who miss questions and don't get the answer right first. -

krichart01This website offers a great game for students to play to teach them about where each state, rivers, oceans, etc. are located. Once you click on the specific spot, it tells you information and history on why each spot is unique. This goes with standard three in geography. It will teach students to identify and describe regions in the United States.

taylordane1. Interactive games called "USA Games" on Sheppard Software are the perfect opportunity to learn not only the 50 states, but also several details about each. This site contains different levels of achievement per section so it is easily flexible for various grade levels. "USA Games" relates to one specific standard in ALCOS. Under Social Studies for the 2nd grade level, number 5 states, "Differentiate between a physical map and a political map." This website allows students to do so by labeling every state, capital, and landscape. With the capitals, they are all listed on the side of the page and the student will drag the capitals one by one to match with its state. For the states, a blank map is shown and the student will drag the name of the state to fit on the blank map. Lastly, the most difficult challenge is dragging the mountain ranges and rivers to its specific area. Students are able to challenge themselves in their learning of geography by advancing to different levels as they progress. It gives students directionality of a map. Students could use this site during individual time or as a group. Teachers could take this opportunity to play a game with the class. The class could be divided into multiple teams and see who can guess the state's location correctly (next step would be capitals and landscapes). We chose this game because it contains up to date information because each landscape is updated. Mountain ranges are constantly changing and this is something students need to be aware of.
