Facebook’s Thrift: Scalable Cross-Language Development
Thrift is an open source software framework created by Facebook for scalable cross-language development. It combines a powerful software stack with a code generation engine to build services that work efficiently and seamlessly between C++, Java, Python, PHP, and Ruby. Facebook is the 6th most trafficked site on the web, serving over 1 billion pages per day. Behind the scenes, Thrift is used to power RPC communication between Facebook’s internal services, including Search, Mobile, and Platform.
