Create two templates, “Citing Sources” and “Note-taking Form.”
Students open both “Citing Sources” and “Note-taking Form” and save them
For each source students use, they open the “Citing Sources” and enter required information. They can type or cut and paste, but I recommend they at least cut and paste the URLs, as these often get copied incorrectly.
Students begin reading sources, cutting and pasting key sentences or paragraphs into the left column of the “Note-taking Form.” In the right hand column, they paraphrase and/or write a response to the passage they copied.
Students create final products using primarily the notes they wrote in the response column, but also direct quotes from passages they cut and pasted into the “Note-taking Form.”
