This site is cool because it gives Japan as an example of cultural diffusion. It describes the basic history of how Japan went through diffusion to become what we know Japan to be today. It is really cool to look at one culture in great detail to see how diffusion works.
This page goes into extreme detail about the history of Japan, and the effects of diffusion on its culture. Japan first saw a change when it started trading with China. Eventually, with the introduction of Matthew Perry, Japan experienced extreme changes. Coal trading companies opened, and eventually the Tokugawa Shogunate was weakened by a desire for change. Diffusion is responsible for this change. Japan has now become a more “advanced” westernized culture.
