its amazing how like you said, one idea can spawn so many different groups, and how so many of those groups can find something about the other ones that is "wrong." I mean this is all centralized around the same idea, yet some don't look at that, they look at the differences.

I agree that this seems like a high number at first but then after reading some of the articles on this page the number does not seem that surprising. It is intersting how one idea can spawn so many different groups.

Hey, maybe the statistics are wrong in a different way - with the way American culture is changing (rapidly, and it seems to be picking up speed as it goes) maybe it'll be a minority in five years instead of forty.

I'll agree that the U.S needs to lax their ideals on religious toleration, otherwise the melting pot is sure boil over. And yeah, you can't legitimately say that christianity will be a minority in the U.S...72% of statistics are wrong anyways. I also think that the primary goal of the site should be to educate individuals on their own religion first and foremost. I know far too many people who "worship" under a certain denomination...but don't know the first thing about where their rituals and practices come from. (I'm talking to you Catholics...)

I find it interesting that people are lumping conservatives and Christians into the same category. That's sort of a blanket statement. I know a number of people who consider themselves to be strong Christians, but who are quite liberal in there thinking and beliefs....and would you believe they actually vote democrat? So, you can't label a religion based on an already biased system because the supposed numbers are declining. I doubt very seriously that has anything to do with conservative aggression. In fact, if you look at pure demographic numbers there isn't a decline in conservative stock value but the number of people are growing in red states. Did you see the congressional reapportionment a few years ago? Democrats were losing seats in states where more traditionally republican states were gaining seats. So, if you look at demographics, liberals would have more to fear. I think traditional/conservative values can be tied in to any religion not just Christianity. Look at the differences between cerrtain Islamic factions and Theravada vs. Mayahana Buddhism (which there were recent ksuanth618) posts. Maybe the problem of value lies elsewhere and isn't completely within a religious explanation. Just a point to ponder.

It's interesting to me how much time is spent by Christians focusing on the things that are wrong with other denominations. To me, this is wasting time that could be spent providing aide to those in need. The time and energy spent on proving others wrong should be spent on proving that they are right by acting upon the things that they believe in.

Christianity was originally one of the most humanitarian and non-judgemental religions in existance. Jesus lived and served the out casts. I'm not quite sure what happened to this all inclusive and tolerant mentality.

Most Christians that I know do not identify themselves with Jehovah's Witnesses. Therefore, I do not think that the reason for the aggression some people have been seeing from conservatives (Christian or otherwise) comes from their panic about the end of the world. In fact they might find it a bit ridiculous on just how many times JW's have incorrectly prophesied Armaggedon.

Leshia--I apologize for some of the hateful, extremist groups within Christianity who have made such a bad impression on you. On the whole, Christians try not to be judgemental (although it's hard sometimes) or intolerant. However, they will disagree with the practices and lifestyles of others (although we are far from perfect ourselves and are aware of it). The word "tolerate" implies that there has to be a disagreement first. It doesn't mean one has to accept the other's view as true. This is a misconception I think a lot of people have, especially in this day and age, and is often misused.
