Stephanie Vande KraatsEven though this site is not strictly just for educators, I’m tempted to place in the Social Sciences/Education websites. The mission of the IRA is to “...promote reading by continuously advancing the quality of literacy instruction and research worldwide….” which sounds very academic. Libraries, especially public libraries, have a particular interest and commitment to literacy and often offer literacy classes and activities. This site is focused towards increasing literacy in children and youth so it provides links to publications from across the globe, news and issues papers, teaching and literacy tools, career information, an online store, and conference schedules. The association has also put together comprehensive resource packages for educators and parents on subjects such as the beginner reader, the struggling learner, and comprehension.
