delaneyryan23The website describes the famous Stanford Prison Experiment in which college boys were assigned the role of either a prisoner or a guard. At first the roles were seen as a joke, however, Within hours of beginning the experiment, some guards began to harass prisoners.
This source is from the actual man who conducted the experiment and recorded his findings. The goal of his experiment and of this website is to explain a part of human nature.
Based on this experiment, it tells us that humans will readily conform to the social roles they are expected to play. The roles that these students were labeled as and the environment in which they were exposed too, ultimately affected their behavior and attitude towards one another. -

What happens when you put good people in an evil place? Does humanity win over evil, or does evil triumph? These are some of the questions we posed in this dramatic simulation of prison life conducted in the summer of 1971 at Stanford University.
