8 habits to pick up... #2 is probably the most difficult, and #4 reminds me of those teachers who just can't "seem to find the time" to take a chance and try something new.

I struggle with this. How do I get the teachers I coach to grasp the idea that they need to be creative in how they teach? Why not include ipods and cell phones? They're worried students will get off task, but if we give them reasons to stay on task (let them learn the way they learn!), wouldn't we all be better off?

Its a common fear expressed by many teachers I work with - behavioral management and new technologies. It is based on - how will I know if the tools are being misused. Classes without technologies learn at such a slow rate that perhaps a bit of distraction would actually encourage the creative juices. Play and then apply
