FOUR major public hospitals are being ordered to stop leaking radioactive waste into the sewerage system.
The waste is mainly from the radioactive iodine used to treat thyroid cancer patients.
Sydney Water has demanded that the hospitals -- Royal North Shore, Liverpool, Nepean and Concord -- install decay tanks to protect workers from exposure.
