MULTI-MILLION pound plans to redevelop a Wirral hospital have come a step closer after being approved by the region’s strategic health authority.
The £32m plans for St Catherine’s hospital in Birkenhead could see two GP practices from Tranmere moved to the site, along with enhanced facilities.
Wirral’s PCT wants to transform the site – much of which dates back to the Victorian era – into a community hospital providing community, out patient and day case services all on one “integrated site”.
