Shanna LentzJamendo is a library of songs licensed under Creative Commons. Teachers and students can use these songs as a part of their own original creations. For example, if students want to create an iMovie, they can use any of these songs as background music. Very similar to they way Flickr organizes its photos, Jamendo offers a variety of media categorized by license type. On the right-hand column of the page, Jamendo posts the descriptions of each type of Creative Commons license. Once users read over these descriptions, they can browse through songs from whichever license choice best suits their purpose. This enables users to make an educated decision before browsing through potential songs.

lindseyjeliasAll of the music on this site is available under one of the Creative Commons licenses. Users are allowed to download the music for free. Students and educators could use this site to find background music and sound effects to use in digital media projects, such as web pages, videos, slide shows, podcasts, digital stories, and presentations. Depending on what CC license a piece of work has, users could alter and mix the music, creating entirely new work. They could also create their own "mash ups" to serve their purposes.

Caroline FiedlerJamendo offers many different types of music that I could play in a MS Powerpoint presentation to show my class music of different nations and cultures. We study a story about maps and homes around the world, and this site would give me lots of free music to introduce children to different varieties.

Beth HumerickhouseThis link takes you straight to a page that shows the music sorted by the CC license. There is a variety of music here that could be background music to set the mood of a student's production. I love this site's music and have started listening to it as background music while I work.

wilkesjeremy mayThis site provides music covered under Creative Commons licenses for free use. Teachers can use music from this site to engage students in cultural education. Students will get to hear music from other countries and compare the music to styles they are familiar with here. This would be extremely beneficial in a Social Studies class, but can be useful in other disciplines. Students can also find and share music they find interesting and write responses comparing style, instruments, beats, or other creative comparisons on blogs or in class.
