These Dons kept themselves strictly from intermarrying with the rest of the people. Perhaps the problem was different religions? Mostly, however, adopted Orkney names. Among these were Petrie, Reid and Hewison. As a separate caste they no longer exist. Physical features sometimes do remain that can identify the descendants of the Armada survivors.
