Sarah-Jane OskaThe History Teachers Association of Victoria is an organisation and community dedicated to providing support, resources and skills for History teachers across Victoria. They provide professional development and networking opportunities for graduate and senior level teachers by exploring the relationship between the past, present and future.
HTAV is suitable for all levels of AusVELS History, as it is their main aim to tackle the History curriculum - for both VELS and now AusVELS - and make it approachable, tangible and engaging.
Becoming a member of HTAV requires a fee, however whole school departments are able to join to access resources.
In addition, there are specific VCE revision days dedicated to providing students with the tools to successfully complete their VCE History subjects.
The HTAV website itself could potentially make itself more user-interactive by allowing members to share, comment on, and advise other users. History teachers could then look to other history teachers from around Victoria for resources and advice, without having to trawl other such websites such as TES Australia. Similarly, history teachers might be able to submit unit plans for comments and suggestions, ensuring that they are getting the best learning outcomes. -
