So, this year, when I teach "This Is Your Brain on the Internet," I'm trying out a new point system. Do all the work, you get an A. Don't need an A? Don't have time to do all the work? No problem. You can aim for and earn a B. No gaming the system.
Interesting model for assigning grades via crowdsourcing model. Seems to fit with the desire to make class less teacher-centric and emphasis accountability on the part of the students.

I can see this working at the college level, but what about at HS? Will this approach be widely accepted by the various constituencies at the secondary level?

I am using a model similar to this at the high school level. each student will have their own blog and part of their assessment will be to critically examine their peers work. It can be done but they must be taught the skills to properly examine work or it will not be as successful.
