This is a fascinating and intriguing approach. It makes sense, even more so than the stable environment theory. I'd always figured that civilization started with the neolithic revolution (is that the correct name for the invention of agriculture?) and people just saw how nice it was to stay in one place instead of having to chase one's food around the landscape. This new approach makes much more sense.
