mcgra026The video I watched was about how short life is and how both young and old need to come together to collaborate. We cna do so by engaging in meaningful conversations with not only our local peers, but with people around the world. This reminds me of bring a global communicator, because that is one of the main goals of it, to collaborate with people world wide.

marinaclark23This site offers e-learning activities for educators for their students. Such as the geo game which is a game to learn geography terms and learn how to interpret and read maps. I would use this game when I am teaching geography in my classrooms because it is fun and they are learning at the same time. This site also develops new online tools that we can use in our classrooms. This relates to NETS-S because it can be used to identify, evaluate, and promote appropriate technologies to enhance and support instruction. This also relates to NETS-T because relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources can help to promote student learning and creativity. It also participates in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning which the global school net does.
-
gabbygray_07The video that I watched was titled, "Linking Kids Around the World." In the video they talk about how the global school net foundation combines teaching with video conferencing, websites, and different tools that help bridge geological gaps. This results in young people around the world being able to learn together. Students from all over the world collaborate with one another to look at different problems that are happening in the world around them and look to see if there are any similarities or differences between what is happening in their own countries/cities and how they can work to try and solve them together.
This video specifically looks at concepts from the NETS-S #4, Being an Innovative Designer, #5, Being a Computational Thinker, and #7 being a global collaborator.
This seems like a very interesting idea to have the students use in the classroom that can help them expand their learning and understanding beyond the four walls of their classroom. -

clae001On this website I located a video called "Engage by connecting youth and educators world wide to benefit humanity". This 2 min video said so much more than the time spent watching. It started with a catchy fact about how many times your heart beats in a certain amount of time and then continues to show so many different people with different shapes, color, sizes, genders and ages. Each of them are doing the same hand movement showing unity among the world. It was very inspiring and important to see that we are in this life together and I hope to share that same concept with my learners one day.

veronicalarsenI watched the video "Global SchoolNet: Global Schoolhouse", which was song about linking education and students globally. The video showed students collaborating and sharing from different places all over the world. The video also has a page where it shares their "21 century Learning: standards based and connecting students worldwide". I think technology has this incredible power to link students globally, which hadn't been available before. Students can learn about other student's cultures, compare and contrast their lives, work together to solve problems and build projects. This fits into both the NETS-S and NETS-T, because the students are figuring out how to solve problems and work together on a much bigger scale than just themselves. Worldwide connection offers a deeper level of learning. Rather than reading about different cultures, they can see if first hand and learn from direct sources. This opens a world of community, understanding, and teamwork.
-
phill085The iPopp video encourages students and teachers alike to become a part of the global community of education. Education is something to share, and sharing it with people across the world is beneficial for everyone involved. This site advocates teachers helping students to fulfill the NETS-S standard for students of global collaborator, as students would have a chance to collaborate with other students around the world. It also provides teachers with an opportunity to fulfill the NETS-T standard 5 of professional growth by allowing them to get ideas and resources from a variety of worldwide sources.

colla010I watched the Global SchoolNet video where it showed great examples of technology bringing people from all around the world together. In middle school we had a similar program in which we had a pen pal that was from a different country. We shared our thoughts, dreams and aspirations with each other and learned about each others home town and culture. I think its a great way to expose students to global issues and make them more concerns global citizens.

Mario AyonGlobal School Net website provides educators with a resources and activities that could take place in the classroom for the benefit of the student. In one video it showed how technology is now being used so that young students can communicate with other young students around the world. California worked with students from Asia and studies earthquakes together and discussed their findings together using technology. This website also offers blogs with information for educators on activities that can be done that could be educational and fun for students. One activity was to teach students how newspapers are made and gave the students the opportunity to create one for themselves. This is beneficial for students because it will help them with their writing skills and teach them how to work with a team.

Ciera StaufferThis website seems useful in a way that it is a collaborative website full different projects, skills, teamwork activities, and other developmental skills in almost every subject. Catarina LaraThe International Schools Cyber Fair is the video I watched. The video was about how students are able to unite with other students around the world by sharing their websites they create. This contest is a great way to get students exited about learning. One of the teachers stated that children are more apt to pay more attention to their spelling and writing because many people around the world will see it. 30 countries are involved in this contest, and the judges are also all from different continents. Overall this contest is a great way to get children motivated about school while having fun designing a website. Children not only are able to practice there writing but they are also learning new ways to use different programs with technology.

Kylan PrattThe video I watched was a short creative film called Global Schoolhouse. Though Artsy, the concept was clear. Technology allows education to be global. Not just global but also multicultural. We can interact with other people in the world without even being in the same country. This has grand impact on education as a whole as it should be all inclusive. Education is for everyone. The interaction with students from different culture can also help everyone understand our differences and get along to promote unity.

The site had to offer ideas of how to transition from traditional learning to brain friendly interactions using technology and networking with the whole world.

Vilma RamosThe global school net site offers various resources like videos and activities that teacher could use in classrooms. As I was looking through the YouTube videos I saw one that appealed to me. The link is the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PKMjAYBL3_Y&feature=c4-overview-vl&list=PL3F3D3F5A20893D40. The clip describes what I want to do as a teacher. An oceanside calss demostrate how they are apart of an international webpage called "Global Schoolhouses" dedicated only for students. There the students could contact other students from all over the world and share cultures and anecdotes. I think this exercise makes it more exciting for students because they could learn about cultures in books, but its more thrilling to experience it first hand with Skype or chat. I will sure make this one of my bucket list to do's for the future!

Alison SeagleThis website is a great tool for globalization. Globalization is becoming more and more important in today's society and therefore it is important for students to learn about it. This site would be a great way to introduce students to that way of thinking.
-
Jessica NelsonThe fact that technology is able to link individuals almost effortlessly throughout the world is amazing. This site creatively allows educators to have their students participate in online projects and allows students to reflect on other children's ideas all over our world. As a future educator I know how important it is to be able to use technology. It is actually a great aspect to have in the classroom and is beneficial in many ways. Using technology avoids the use of the amount of paper we used to use and also allows children to learn and become familiar with technology at the same time.
-
Lavena AbhayThis website has different E-learning projects for different subjects. Students can get on this and working on some of these on their free time. They are fun and easy and keeps the brain moving! The video that I watched was called "Web Connected Minds".

-
Alex WilliamsI watched the video of the Global SchoolHouse theme song. This song kind of gave a background on the Global SchoolNet program. It connects students from classrooms in different countries to engage deeper learning.
-
Jaycee ArthurThe video I watched was about the Cyber fair and how it is an international event. Where children all over the world get together. Teachers talked about ho much the children learned by connecting to people in different countries. Many children can collaborate and grow from their own peers rather then just being told something in a classroom.
