brigitteponceI watched the video titled, "Engage by Connecting Youth and Educators Worldwide to Benefit Humanity", this video including short clips of people from different ethnicities, genders, countries and race. The people in the video were seen placing their hand over their hearts.. At the end of the video there was a message that read, " Engage by connecting youth and educators worldwide to enhance collaboration and benefit humanity". What i benefited from watching this video is that we are all not the same and we need to embrace that, which is good to know when we will have students from different backgrounds.

mathteacherrobI watched the video "Connecting Schools to Live Expeditions." Wave Vidmar treks from Russia to the North Pole, braving the extreme conditions alone. He contacts via satellite phone a class at Temple Heights Elementary School in Oceanside, California and another class at Ein Ganim Elementary School in Israel. Some of the students get to speak with Wave directly and ask him questions about his journey and his health (he sustained an injury to his face near his left eye). Apparently during his journey he shared with the students the geography and mathematics that went into planning his trip. The class from Ein Ganim Elementary also sang a song by the Beatles for Wave, which he very much appreciated. Satisfies ISTE NETS-T standards 1: Facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity. Projects can be used to promote student reflection, work and learn collaboratively, and explore real world issues. Satisfies ISTE NETS-T standard 4: Promote and model digital citizenship and responsibility. Projects develop cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging students with students of other cultures. Satisfies ISTE NETS-T standard 5: Engage in professional growth and leadership. Projects help students in community building both in their respective classrooms and with classes from other states or nations; projects also allow students to participate in local or global communities to improve their learning.

Angelica RodriguezWe live in a world with different cultures, beliefs, practices, norms and values it is important for students to understand and appreciate our differences especially nowadays when we are more connected to the world than ever thanks to the internet. The GlobalSchoolNet.org is a great website for global collaboration. I the video "Doors to Diplomacy: Soccer and It's Power" it was about a school from Ghana who collaborated with kids in San Diego to create 12 Doors to Diplomacy and CyberFair web projects. It was great to see these two groups of kids from two different countries coming together and to create something great.
