hedieh_heddaThis web site includes online games, which involves young children in entertaining stories and engaging activities to explore a variety of essential early literacy skills. These plays help them to connect individual sounds with letter representations, which is a powerful predictor of future reading and spelling skills.
Resource: Web page
Source: National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD), 1999.
I might use this web site to engage children in games and activities that help them break spoken words into sound parts and identify sounds and letters. This useful tool might help me to enhance child’s understanding of printed letters and words and how words and language work. Students with non-developed pre-writing skills might also benefit from this web site to create and use print in a meaningful way. I might be able to use its screening tools as short assessments to decide whether or not to take specific actions and offer additional instructions to early learners. -

mkdixonThis website may be titled for reading, but it also has information for math. I can put this website on my newsletters that go to the parents to show them the importance of what we are doing. It also shows that parents have to reinforce what they are learning in school, at home. Also, it gives tips to teachers about how to teach math, like using real world objects that the students can physically count. I would use this during my planning process. The information is accurate and credible because it is funded by the National Foundation of Learning Disabilities. It is a fairly old website being made in 1999 but the information has not changed. It is a little biased because it tells the importance of preschool and it is teaching preschool. There were a few ads, but not too distracting and it was easy to navigate.

gina stefaniniGet Ready to Read! Program Overview
Get Ready to Read! (GRTR!) is a national initiative to build the early literacy skills of preschool-age children. The initiative provides an easy-to-administer, research-based screening tool to early childhood educators, child care providers, and parents in order to help them prepare all children to learn to read and write.
GRTR!'s program vision is that all preschool children will have the skills they need to learn to read when they enter school. This Web site is a part of NCLD's initiative to provide parents, educators, health-care professional and advocated with information to help build early literacy skills by integrating emergent literacy screening and learning activities into routine early childhood education, child-care and parenting practices. -

Melissa FullerWebsite focused on reading, guaging reading levels and providing activities based on reading weaknesses. I particularly like this link on the site: http://www.getreadytoread.org/screening/grtr_directions.php because it links to a "Pre-Reader" test that you can give to 4 year olds to guage their pre-reading levels and then it suggests activities based on where they are.
