Tees Valley Unlimited is part of the blueprint put to the Government to develop the Tees Valley City Region. It would have representatives from local councils and local business, to tackle economic and planning issues, including transport, skills training and tourism.

John Lowther, chief executive of Tees Valley Joint Strategy Unit, said that in many respects the proposals in the Government's consultation paper on CDCs reflected the plans for Tees Valley Unlimited.
"For example, it supports the role of City Development Companies in drawing up economic strategies, co-ordinating investment from bodies such as One NorthEast, English Partnerships and Europe, and dealing with key issues such as housing and tourism - all elements envisaged with our Tees Valley Unlimited proposals.
