Integrating technology into classroom instruction means more than teaching basic
computer skills and software programs in a separate computer class -
In particular, it must support four key components of learning: active
engagement, participation in groups, frequent interaction and feedback, and
connection to real-world experts -
Learning through projects while equipped with technology tools allows students
to be intellectually challenged while providing them with a realistic snapshot
of what the modern office looks like. -
The Web connects students to experts in the real world and provides numerous
opportunities for expressing understanding through images, sound, and text. -
And, as an added benefit, with technology tools and a project-learning
approach, students are more likely to stay engaged and on task, reducing
behavioral problems in the classroom. -
Technology also changes the way teachers teach, offering educators effective
ways to reach different types of learners and assess student understanding
through multiple means

I have a son in middle school, the school provides every 7 & 8th grader with a laptop. These computers are used for homework or in class projects. I am thrilled that he has this advantage to learn and grow with technology. My son has had a lot of difficulty in school, he is dyslexia most classes have been a struggle for him. However, I truly believe he has found his calling he enjoys every part of technology. Teachers have told me that if they are having a problem with their computers they can usually count on him to help them out. This has had a tremendous impact on my son, he feels really good that he has met with success in all parts of technology.
As an educator myself it is also important that I keep up to date with technology. This past summer I took a graduate course called Technology in the Classroom. I learned so much in this course. I learned about blogging, how to enhance my monthly newsletters, downloaded pictures from my digital camera, made an interactive slide show and also created a movie and put it to music and speaking. I have brought my knowledge back into the classroom and I am enhancing my curriculum with the skills I have learned
