This article brings up the concern over the fact that while these social media sights are good for self expression, personal connection and giving kids access to the whole world; students are still not using these sights properly (i.e. cyberbully, posting nudes, talking to strangers, posting private info, etc.) Unfortuantly like the article suggests, people have turned to schools to become part of the internet education that has been going on in many peoples homes. Schools at this time are attempting to help as much as they can by blocking social media on their internet servers, by discussing cyber bullying and by using teachers as examples (unforunatley it becomes Mrs. Smith doesnt have a facebook so why should you?) The article does discuss how schools are attempting to help, but brings up the point that this topic is touchy and does cause difficulty in the classroom. Teachers attempt to use social media but are often shut down because it is considered inappropriate by many parents.

  * Be kind to others. Think how you would feel if someone posted similar things about you.
  
  * Think before you post. Material posted in these communities is public, could damage your reputation, or could be used to harm you. It is not private!
  
  * Take steps to protect yourself and others from bullying and harassment. Report concerns to the Web site and to a trusted adult.
  
  * Report to an adult if someone posts threats of violence or self-harm. Such threats could be real threats. Don't post threats yourself. Someone might take you seriously.
  
  * Develop "stranger danger" detection skills. People online might not be who they seem to be. Develop a safety plan for meeting online friends that is approved by your parent.
  
  * Stop the predators. If you have been contacted by someone you think might be a sexual predator, report it to a trusted adult.
