德国联邦总理默克尔在柏林举行的康拉德•阿登纳基金会活动日上以"价值观外交"为题发表的演讲中强调，应以基督教的典型形象作为政治协商的重要准则。她在演讲中说，"所有的人都是上帝按照同等的权利和尊严价值创造出来的"。她指出，普世价值观是全球化条件下世界和谐共存的前提。这些价值观是不容置疑的，以特定的生活状况条件为由忽视人权的做法是不能被接受的。
