Disqus is a discussion platform for blogs, social media sites, and personal websites. It allows users to create a comment box for their blog or website. Additionally, within Disqus users create a profile that gathers all comments from every registered site. Within the user profile, users can approve, disapprove, filter, and moderate discussions and comments left by audience members. This allows users to mold their discussions and keep them filtered within their preferences.
Disqus also offers users an option to create a community widget, an additional box to be placed within the website, for their sites. This allows all followers of a particular blog, for example, to see who is active within that blog’s community, view each other’s comments, and engage in discussion. An additional benefit of Disqus is the ability for audience members to link their comments and responses to their Twitter or Facebook accounts, which have the potential to draw in more discussion.
Safety and security is not left out. Spam is always unwanted, but spammers don’t rest when it comes to leaving comments on websites. Users can filter out spam and notify Disqus of problematic spammers. According to avid and distinguished bloggers, you are only as good as the amount and quality of comments your audience produces. The use of Disqus’ security measures will allow you to keep spammers from affecting the community discussion.
