An ideology, in the
classical Marxist sense of the word, is a body of thought about society, politics, economics, religion, etc., which members of a given class believe, not because there are any rational grounds for it, but because it is a reflection or "sublimate" of their way of life, and usually advances the common interests of members of the class.
