  • The 40,000 new handsets will be available next month for guests and staff at the Beijing Olympic Games as a trial run for the homegrown 3G and mobile television technologies.
  • China Mobile Communications Corp, the world's largest mobile phone company with more than 400 million subscribers, said last week it received the go-ahead from the State Administration for Radio, Film and Television (Sarft) to deliver mobile television services to users of new 3G phones.
  • The mainland had 601 million mobile phone subscribers as of last month.
