In a nutshell, Jeremy (a post-doc with Lev Manovich in the Software Studies program) argued that tag clouds can represent an aesthetic interface similar to procedural and fractal poetry. He has been working on making shaped tag clouds (instead of alphabetical lists, which he suggested are more usable than artistic - i agree). Beautiful, geeky stuff.
