  • The $60,000 system that Sprig tested is being sold by Walnut Creek-based SolaRover Inc. In two months, the company has sold about 15 systems to businesses that include construction companies and entertainment venues, said SolaRover Vice President David Watson. SolaRover is also producing five-kilowatt and 20-kilowatt trailers.
  • The trailers are built and assembled by West Coast Green Power Inc. in Martinez. Such a setup is cheaper than a rooftop solar system because it's simpler to install, Watson said. A customer would pay $20,000 to $40,000 less for a 10-kilowatt portable system than a rooftop system, he said.
