In Art are we dealing with knowledge claims that relativist. Is anything art that I call art ? In TOK we need to be wary of falling into an uncritical liberal relativist response that anything goes. Are there univeralist criteria that make artistic appreciation transcend individual cultures ? Ramachandran has written this to suggest that from a neuroscientific perspective there are univeral features which will appeal to a human audience no matter where they are. It is lecture 3. Read it .. if you cant listen to it.
