Jamie watsonAn Interactive Whiteboard resource. Allows you to make your own numberlines from easy to hard, from 1's to 100's and in decimals. This great classroom tool could be valuable in emphasising the intervals between numbers as discussed in reading M3, (Clements, 1999). Also providing important opportunities for differential instruction as touched upon in Van De Walle et al. (2010, p. 76). Reading M3, (Clements, 1999) discusses that the traditional approach to measurement of using non-standard instruments before standardised rulers may not be appropriate; This web based resource can allow for the interchangeable use of both with a few clicks of a button. This could allow students to work with what best suits them, and vary their approach with minimal fuss. This web based resource could allow teachers to cover Syllabus outcomes MS1.1, 1.2, 1.3 (Syllabus, 2010, p. 22). One of the difficulties faced by students when learning to measure, according to Sperry Smith (2009, p. 217), is that of measuring an object from a beginning point of greater than zero; this site could become a valuable tool in overcoming such difficulties because numberlines can be made to begin at any number. This allows students to experiment with standard measurements in a new and helpful way.

Roland O'DanielNumber lines are a great resource for any mathematics classroom and a MUST for instruction. Every opportunity for students to make sense of numbers should be taken rather than assumed and an intentional routine use of number lines makes better students. This is a nice resource for having interactions. It's not a great site, but it has potential for routine usage in the classroom.

Jennifer BoozePlace whole numbers and decimals on a number line. This site isn't very 2.0 - but it is interactive. You can move the colored blocks on the number line to reveal the mystery number under. Great visual.
