A book that you might want to take a look at is: Richardson, W. (2006). Blogs, wikis, podcasts, and other powerful web tools for classrooms (2nd ed.). Thousand Oaks, CA: Corwin Press.
Richardson's book looks at technology in the classroom, technology in relationship to today's students, and it also offers practical information to incorporate technolgoy into the classroom, and it shows you the ins and outs of Web 2.0 (the read/write web).
