This report talks about trends in education in the near future and as far out as five years from now. Much of the focus is on collaboration. The report gives a lot of great ideas and suggested tools for using technology in the classroom.

predicts computing that will be used in schools in the next 5-10 years, broken down in 2-3 year intervals.

For our purposes I think the section on the "Personal Web" is most relevant. But the "Critical Challenges" section has most of our conversation of 4/16/09 in more polished form. Lots of references here to specific applications and case studies.
