The arctic tundra's plant growth is strongly limited by nutrient availability. Ninety percent of the carbon in arctic ecosystems is located in soils. Global warming is affecting the temperature and precipitation in some arctic regions. Alaska is warming approximately 1 degrees Celsius per decade. If the precipitation continues to be affected there may not be enough water in the soil to keep the plants going. The tundra is a very delicate environment. Oil diggers in search of their next gold mind are exploring the tundra. Some precautions are being taken to ensure the environment of the tundra. They do not want too much activity to take place on the delicate tundra. Actions are being taken to protect mother earth and everything she gives to us.
