    sudo aticonfig --initial --force

     

    This generates a default ATI device section in the configuration file which is capable of loading the fglrx driver. Then type in

     

    Code:

     

    sudo aticonfig --overlay-type=Xv

     

    This will enable Enable Video acceleration (Xv Overlay). Now reboot again. If you come up with errors writing to your xorg.conf file, type in this command sudo -i then enter in your password. Now retype the previous commands for aticonfig, after that reboot and follow step 9.
     
     Step 9. Open up the terminal to make sure you have ATI installed correctly type in

    fglrxinfo

     

    (This should display ati)
     Then type in

     

    Code:

     

    glxinfo | grep direct

     

    (Makes sure you have 3d acceleration and it should display yes)
