I wanted explain a few things about my decision to close The Content Wrangler Community on Ning April 1, 2010. First, Ning (the software used to power this site) was good for a while. It was inexpensive, allowed me to create a community in 7 minutes flat, and helped me get many of us together in one place. It allowed some of us to participate in discussions and share information, but generally it was a wasteland because members seldom participated as much as they do in some other mega-communities like Linkedin and Facebook. The Ning platform created much too much work for me and attracted way too many SPAMmers.
